Water Features

There are four (4) water features attached to Emancipation Park. Two fountains are located at the ceremonial entrance of the Park (Redemption Song (A statue of an unclothed male and an unclothed female statue) is set above a dome shaped design over which water gently cascades. Additionally, water sprouts from pipes below gratings on the ground at the periphery of the area outside the Park just beyond the Redemption Song monument, the third water feature is a pair of reflecting pools flowing on either side of the Freedom Corridor (walkway from the ceremonial entrance/Redemption Song monument to the Main Fountain) and the fourth is the Main Fountain which is approximately in the center of the Park. This is designed to eject water to over five meters into the air.

Our fountains symbolize beauty, grace and power. They are intended to aid with enhancing the experience of users of the Park by adding to the aesthetic appeal. They also aid in the creation of a tranquil and relaxing environment. In words from the sculpture of the Redemption Song monument, Ms. Laura Facey, water being a part of the base of the related monument "is refreshing, purifying and symbolically washes away the pain and suffering of the past".
